This is my first review about whisky so please bear with me a little bit.  A little back story, I recently went to an event called Auchentoshan‘s “The New Malt Order” Bar Take Over which takes place at  FLOW Bar & Lounge. auchentoshanAuchentoshan (pronounced ‘Ock-un-tosh-un’) is the triple distilled single malt whisky from Glasgow, Scotland. This ‘The New Malt Order’ is a  bar takeover campaign starts 2 November until 12 November 2016 (except Sunday) at FLOW Bar & Lounge, Menara BTPN, Mega Kuningan – South Jakarta.

Taste Bar Experiment

Auchentoshan Bar Take Over presents a pop-up Auchentoshan Taste Experiment Bar where whisky drinkers can experiment with their ways in enjoying whisky while amplifying Auchentoshan’s key flavours; citrus, nuttiness, spiciness and sweetness from  the whisky’s maturation in Bourbon, Oloroso Sherry and Pedro Ximenez casks. The Taste Experiment Bar allow guests to make-their-own cocktails with the addition of various condiments, ingredients and choices of garnish.

They had me taste Auchentosan 12 years, 18 years and the Three Wood, and all of them have different experience.

The Three Wood one amaze me the most, the smell is whoa! It smells like a sweet burnt toffee or butterscotch. Very nice and pleasing, I really like the smell. And Three Wood have a sweetness at the the tail end of it. It is not overpoweringly sweet though. I get a little bit of a peppery finish also. In my bar experiment I mixed it citrus styl. IT’S THE BEST!

The 12 years is light and pleasant whisky, an excellent beginners whisky that starting sweet quickly turning dry, very soft mouthfeel. But the 18 years is too strong for me.

So it’s been a great experience for me, if you’ve got a good bar nearby, try to order Auchentoshan, and I recommend the Three Wood one. But if you can’t, this ‘The New Malt Order’ will take over FLOW Bar & Lounge, Menara BTPN, Mega Kuningan – South Jakarta from 2 November until 12 November 2016 (except Sunday).
